APNH Today

In October 2018, coinciding with our 35th anniversary, we changed our name to APNH: A Place to Nourish your Health. Progression to AIDS has become much less common and management of HIV disease has evolved. As we look to the future, we are focused on building upon our reputation in the community and the core competencies we have developed over the past 40 years. We have expanded our mission and vision and are re-defining our identity to reach further into our community and make a greater impact on the lives of those who face stigma or challenges in receiving culturally competent care.

40 Years Serving the Community

AIDS Project New Haven is the first and oldest AIDS service organization in the state of Connecticut and has been providing HIV/AIDS services to infected and affected individuals for the past 40 years in the Greater New Haven area. Our original mission was to provide education, non-judgmental, comprehensive and holistic services to individuals infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Begun as a volunteer organization responding to the need to give compassionate care to individuals infected with HIV, educate the public and assist clients, mostly gay men at the time, end their lives with dignity, APNH has grown to include a professional staff of sixteen, a team of contract mental health, substance abuse and medical providers and hundreds of volunteers providing services to a diverse client base. We are committed to providing culturally sensitive, non-judgmental, confidential and comprehensive services. We have established a high level of trust in the community among clients, funders, and collaborators and have continually adapted our services to the changing impact of the epidemic and needs of individuals living with HIV/AIDS in our community. We have been in our current location at 1302 Chapel Street for 20+ years and have a management team and staff with extensive experience and longevity. Our team provides years of experience in organizational administration and continuity of care in program delivery.
