Rapid HIV & Hep C Testing and STI Screening

APNH offers status neutral services and care. Everyone has a status! For persons testing negative, we can connect you to PrEP services and other prevention options. For a person who tests positive for HIV or STI’s, APNH will connect you to the appropriate care through our partnerships with providers.

APNH offers free and confidential rapid HIV, Hep C and Syphilis testing. The testing requires a drop of blood obtained by a finger prick and results are available in 20 minutes. Gonorrhea and Chlamydia screening require a urine sample and results may take 7 to 10 days to process. Generally, testing should not take more than 30 minutes!

PrEP consultations can be provided at the time testing. During the consult, an APNH Prevention Coordinator will explain what PrEP is and how it works to protect you against a new HIV infection. APNH partners with online provider heyMistr.com for PrEP services. There may be some instances where a local provider is more convenient or necessary for insurance purposes and APNH has partnerships with local providers to assist you.

Testing and screening is available by appointment or walk-in. To make an appointment, you may click HERE and go directly to our scheduling platform. For walk-ins, our offices are located at 1302 Chapel Street in New Haven. There is plenty of on-street parking and a lot behind the building. APNH is open 9am to 4pm Monday through Friday. For holiday hours or special events, please refer to our Facebook/IG page @APNHPrevention.

If unable to come to our offices but would like to know your HIV status, APNH can provide you with a free HIV Home Test Kit by mail. Results must be reported to APNH staff. To request a kit be mailed to you, please click HERE. PrEP services and linkage to care are still available with Home Test Kits.
